The Michigan Small Farm Council is saddened to report on the passing of one of our founding members and Executive Director Michael Beers in an auto accident on December 18, 2015. As a founding member and active contributor to the work to carry out the mission of the Michigan Small Farm Council, he assisted in many ways to keep our organization connected to our members. He managed our Facebook page, led several T-Shirt fundraisers, as well as updated this website. Mike always found time in his busy life to offer a suggestion, proofread a document, and weigh in on controversial issues. The way Mike lived his life is best remembered by a quote from his Facebook page that read: “Be happy…And let others be happy too”.
The Michigan Small Farm Council is a better organization because we had the privilege of collaborating with Mike and the honor of calling him a friend.
