What is the Right To Farm Act?

The Right to Farm Act (RTFA) is a Michigan statute designed to protect the rights of farmers.  The RTFA, as amended in 1999, provides protection to farmers against being defined a nuisance by local government ordinance so long as the farm follows the current sets of GAAMPs (Generally Accepted Agricultural Practices).  In order to be protected by the RTFA, the farm must be commercial or commercial in intent.
